14 Feb The hardest thing for fundraisers to do
It was the hardest part of the workshop.
I had asked a group of fundraising leaders from the charitable sector to write themselves a thank you note. I asked them to acknowledge the hard work that they put in day in and day out in support of the people and the missions that matter most to them.
They looked at me like I had two heads. And they were uncomfortable.
Why? Fundraisers are the glue in our organizations. They are the “behind the scenes” people that coordinate simple (and big) acts of kindness every day. Fundraisers feel good when they are doing good.
So, for valentines’ day, my wonderful online community, I’d like you to write a valentine to yourself. Include:
- One thing that you love about yourself—what is your amazing superpower that you do better than anyone else?
- One thing that you excel at at work
- One thing that you’re grateful for today, and every day.
You don’t have to share this special valentine with anyone. It’s yours to keep, and to remember. (I posted my valentine on my vision board to remind me every day of the gifts I bring to this world)
Do it now! Write a love note to yourself.
(The emails will wait, the to-do list will be there, but ahhh your mindset will be SO much more positive and abundant.)
Empathy and kindness inspire other people to do amazing things. Give yourself permission to channel that empathy and kindness towards yourself. Shift to gratitude. You’re worth it.
